STATEMENT

I am a visual artist who works with textiles. In my experience as a fashion designer, I discovered that textiles are the closest thing to a universal language with which I connect my capacity for expression. Since I was a child, sewing has been one of my favorite hobbies that later became a professional pursuit. The pattern and the multiple forms that textiles can take when manipulated allow me to tell personal stories that start from a narrative or a feeling of lived experiences.

 

My process consists of curing the canvas multiple times with materials that allow it to be flexible and rigid at the same time. After deciphering the pattern, an intuitive process begins that tells the story of the piece. It is subjected to multiple layers of stretching, drying, sanding and painting. Vibration is the spirit of life. The most important thing in my pieces is to tangibly capture movement, as an evocation of the vibration of the world and that which connects us as beings to the environment.

 

Intuitively, each component of my pieces comes together in a composition; found fabrics, upcycled materials and crazy objects. Through Assemblage I manage to connect physical and abstract bodies to the external and the spiritual. My works are a process of meditation and contemplation of nature, the stories I collect and the intimate encounter between materials and my being.
