About Marta María Joglar

(b.1984) is a Guatemalan/Spanish textile designer and visual artist, whose work is created in multiple mediums such as textiles that she intervenes with paint and then manipulates in a long process that delivers sculptural shapes in the fabric. Whether upcycled, organic or rescued, the textiles represent intense personal moments masterfully by the mix of unexpected colors, giving power, seduction and a special aura to each painting.

Being a fashion designer and having that knowledge about textiles, she questions the concept of movement, which she considers is a metaphor for the vibrant matter that connects our bodies with the rest of the known and unknown world. She’s exhibited in multiple group shows in Guatemala and El Salvador, including an exhibition at the Museo Arte El Salvador MARTE, and individually in her home country since 2019. In 2004 she finished her degree in Fashion Design at Llatzer Academy in Guatemala. Her recent projects explore form with a more natural approach to their embedded color, soon to be shown in 2025 after her residency at La Casa del Arte y la Cultura en la Ermita de Villa Vieja, Nalda, Spain.
